Mumma is 40

Yes, my Mumma is FORTY. And while Mumma may not have accomplished everything she planned at 39, like driving or seeing St. Louis, she and Dan sure have done some other great stuff this year.

They have spoken about their life and Multiple Sclerosis, the successes and challenges of the disease, in more places than I care to remember. They were in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Iowa, and do I even get a lousy T-shirt? NO!

Fine. I wouldn’t have wanted one anyway.

But perhaps one of the best things that has been keeping Mumma busy this year is her PT at Level 11 Physical Therapy. She has stood in their standing frame, done push-ups, and how cool is this? She even WALKED!

So proud of that. And so curious to see what Mumma does next?

With Dan by her side, the two of them are unstoppable…and no, that is not my challenge to MS. That stupid disease can leave them alone!!

This week’s inspiration comes straight from her PT (thanks, Nathan):

“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, I’M POSSIBLE.”

Oh, one more thing, honestly, I think a T-shirt might be nice 😉

    • Thanks, Webster! Walking was a dream and three very determined PTs helped make it my reality (well, them plus a leg locking-velcro harness thing), but I walked. Could that kind of elaborate physical therapy help you? I wish it was possible for us all! Not sure when/if I’ll get the chance to do it again, but it was awesome!!

  1. Happy birthday. My birthday was on November 5 and I know a lot of great people born in November. There must be something about being a Scorpio!
your walking machine looks incredible. Keep up the great work. I may be one of the only people on the planet that got Medicare to pay for my standing frame. Everyone told me that it could not be done. That is until I met a woman who said “yeah, they usually don’t do it but if you like we can go in for an advance approval”. Six weeks later I was the proud owner of an “easy stand” standing frame. It is stationary, and it is probably the best exercise I can do. The only thing missing is the discipline required to use it more times each week.
Keep up the great work and I will keep following your progress.

    • Yes Michael, I agree. There must be something about us Scorpios 😉 Happy belated birthday! So great about your standing frame, I was lucky to buy a used one about a year ago and standing is awesome with so many positive side effects. And like you, it is the best exercise I do and don’t ever complain about doing.
