“Just finished my book by Dan Digmann and his wife, Jennifer! Finished it over my lunch hour with tears in my eyes … happy tears! Such a remarkable book by a remarkable couple!

Reading comments like this one from Nanci in Monticello, Iowa, reassures us that our recently released book is accomplishing what we were hoping for.

We wrote “Despite MS, to Spite MS” to increase awareness about Multiple Sclerosis, demonstrate that life doesn’t end with an MS diagnosis, and to touch and inspire others wherever they are in their lives.

We are blown away that within the first month we’ve sold more than 300 copies and already have donated portions of the proceeds to Camp Courageous and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Newspapers, including the Detroit Free Press, Monticello Express and Morning Sun, have featured the story of us and our publishing debut.

Very humbling.

To think it all kicked off at our book release party Sept. 15 at Veterans Memorial Library in Mount Pleasant, Mich. We are excited to share with you the highlights of our party with this quick video produced by our friend, Adam. He did an incredible job of capturing the moments, and we hope you enjoy them as much as the more than 70 people who were there.

But our work and our mission is just getting started with continued book events and speaking engagements.

We’re gearing up for a series of public presentations in the next several weeks, including:

• Oct. 25 at Alma College in Alma, Mich.

• Oct. 29 at the Central Michigan University Disability Awareness Fair in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

• Nov. 19 at the National MS Society, Michigan Chapter Annual Meeting in Warren, Mich.

Each of these will enable us to share positive, yet very realistic stories of life with a chronic illness, through our speaking and sales of our book, which is available:

• Online at www.DespiteMStoSpiteMS.com

• In Alma, Mich., at Alma College’s College Corner Coffee and Books

• In Ann Arbor, Mich., at Nicola’s Books

• In Mount Pleasant, Mich., at The Book Shelf

We are forever grateful for the support we’ve received from so many people who believe in us and the message we’re working to share with others nationwide. Among the people inspiring us to move forward are Carla in East Lansing, Mich.

Carla commented on Facebook, “Almost done but I don’t want to finish because I’m enjoying it so much. Your book is a gift to us all. Thank you for your time and energy and all the hard work. I’m ready for Volume 2 now.”

  1. The short video made me cry. I have the book and haven’t read it yet. But if I cry a lot, I’m going to send you a bill for Kleenex.

The gift you have is the ability to touch people, to touch their hearts and to make them think and consider their own lives and others as well. That is a great talent. That alone makes you a ” Best Seller” in my book.

Wishing you continued success in sending you hugs,

    Michael
