About the Digmanns

Movie writers would never dream up a fairytale of two people with multiple sclerosis falling in love and living happily ever after. But Jennifer and Dan have been living this truest of love stories as a married couple since 2005.
Combined, Dan and Jennifer have taken on this chronic illness for more than 20 years. Jennifer was diagnosed in 1997; Dan was diagnosed two years later. She has secondary-progressive MS, while his is relapsing-remitting.
They met at a special National MS Society program called “Finding Your Buried Treasure.” Jennifer was one of the small group leaders at this daylong program intended to help people with MS rediscover the goals and dreams they’d lost sight of in dealing with the rigors of everyday lives.
It turned out they had more in common besides MS. Their earliest discussions revolved around fantasy football and Bruce Springsteen music. “I fell in love with Jennifer the day we met,” Dan says.
On October 23, 2004, he asked Jennifer to be his wife, and they were married Sept. 10, 2005.
Since then, Dan and Jennifer have gone on to inspire dozens of friends, colleagues and perfect strangers with their amazing love story and passion for life.

Dan, you have been a close friend of mine since before I can even remember.
I remember thinking how sorry I felt for you when I first found out you had MS.
Wow, If I only knew what an ironically positive time this has turned into for you!!!
Because of your MS diagnosis. You have been able to educate and inspire so many people.
Most importantly your MS diagnosis allowed you to meet the love of your life. your beautiful wife Jennifer.
You 2 are definately made for each other. Your story has been a source of inspiration for anyone who has had the great fortune to hear it.
Keep up the great work , and though I wish neither of you had this deabilitating disease. I definately do not feel sorry for you.
wishing you all the best…

This morning I’ve been searching the web to find someone with MS who hasn’t given up running. I’m so glad I found your site! I used to run until my daughter was born in 2001 and then I had problems walking. In May 2007 I was diagnosed with secondary progressive MS. I have never been able to shake off the feeling that I could run again even though I often find even walking a trial. Reading your blog has given me faith that it can be done and I’ve written to the local running track to check it’s OK if I go and use it (don’t think I’m quite ready for the uneven streets yet!). Don’t know if I can do it yet but I know I’ll regret it if I don’t at least try. The other thing that really caught my eye was your iPod selections, I would choose all of those! The first song I listened to on my way home from the hospital after diagnosis was ‘We Shall Overcome’ from the Seeger Sessions, Bruce Springsteen - a song for every occasion!
Anyway I hope you are both doing well and thanks again for your inspiration.
Love from the UK
